Kangaroo Island Hunting Property

Property Highlights

Kangaroo Island is a 250-acre property offering a mostly flat terrain where lots of pigs, some deer, cats, quail, ducks and trout in the creeks can be found. Marron can be fished for extra charges.

You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to get to the property as long as you don’t go past the shed. You will need a four-wheel-drive to get around the property, however, be sure to bring your own recovery gear as you will be on own.

There is mobile service available at the shed area with Telstra, not sure about Optus service.

BYO everything for camping or rent an insulated shed with basic facilities for accommodation.

No need to bring firewood – the property has available firewood lying around the property for you to collect.

You can sight your firearms at your campsite and target shoot with care, of course observing all safety precautions.

There are no extra charges for trophies.

Terrain

 Mostly flat.

Temperature and Rainfall

Winter temperatures range from 6 to 20 degrees with 350mm of rainfall on average a year, whilst summer enjoys 22-37-degree weather. Winter onwards is best for pigs.

Facilities

If renting shed there is a gas fridge, sink with cold water combustion, fire, three ring gas cooktop with kettle, chairs, table, and two camp stretches. The shed is insulated so it gets quite warm and toasty in there. There is also an outside drop toilet and outside barbecue pit area.

If camping there is a good sheltered spot behind the shed in a clearing with a steel Firepit that is nicely sheltered.

Weather

Winter can be quite wild and woolly, cold and wet so it is a good idea to bring warm and waterproof clothing and gumboots.

Summer can be in the mid 30s, but still it is best to have a set of warm clothes for the evenings and waterproof jackets just in case.

Best time of the year is winter as some pigs travel through the property after the first heavy rains.

Property Owners Rules

Rules on the property are simple – follow and read the conditions for property access book. Common Sense – leave gates as found, no shooting at or within 500m of stock, or on ridgelines, respecting property boundaries, avoid driving on crops. Be mindful of driving close to stock.

Do not shoot anywhere near main house or owners’ pets. No hooning or digging up ground with vehicles. Hunt respectfully – no hunting whilst drinking.

Take all rubbish with you to the designated area, obey any fire restrictions especially total fire bans.

No designated UHF channel.

Items of Interest on the Property

There is scrub which is old growth bush with black boys and grass trees up to 3m high.

There is a creek that runs to the end of the property with two ponds at crossings with trout and Marron available here. Marron at an extra charge with an honesty system appreciated.

Tourist Attractions

There are a couple of small waterfalls in the thick scrub approximately 2m high and an abundance of wildlife including goannas, echidna, wedge tail eagle, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, blue wrens, glossy black cockatoo’s, and the list goes on.

There are also plenty of things to do in the area of the Flinders Chase National Park just down the road, plus Western River in the other direction where you can fish and swim.

There are two pond crossings that are peaceful to sit and fish for some Marron or trout.  Hunters love the scenery, the peacefulness, and the wildlife.

Families can catch Marron, see wildlife, see lambs being born, go on night walks or drives to see kangaroos and wallabies, and the dams are really nice for swimming in the summer.

We believe in the balance conservation hunting provides. Farm stock and native endangered species are in a continuous battle for survival against the feral animal plague that is crippeling Australia.
