MITCHELL #14 HUNTING PROPERTY

Mitchell #14 is a 23,000 Acre property that has a rugged beauty to it - containing undulating hilly and open areas, as well as areas of scrub and forrest. The property also contains semi-dry creeks and dams, offering a variety of hunting opportunities.

Pigs, foxes, cats, Wild Dogs and rabbits are all available for hunting on this property.

Quads, buggys/bikes are all allowed on the acerage. Hunting dogs are allowed as long as they are vaccinated. 

Kids love the Maranoa river - worlds biggest sand pit. Permanent water on Merivale is always worth exploring.

Terrain

Mitchell #14 is a good mix of undulating open and timbered country types with almost permanant water along the rivers

Do I need a 4WD to get to the property?

Yes, access road is black soil and extremely greasy when wet

Do I need a 4WD to get around the property?

Yes, occasional rough roads and also very sandy sections, particularly crossing the Maranoa River

How far is the property from the nearest town?

90km to Mitchell

What are the best arrival and departure times for you?

Arrival between 8-5pm - no after dark. Departure lunchtime.

What facilities are available during our stay?

Fully functional house available to guests

What are the sleeping quarters like?

Fully functional main house for guests

Is mobile service available on your property and which carrier?

No mobile service over most of property. WiFi is available at the house

Do we need to bring firewood or is this available around the property?

Cut as much firewood as you like. Bring your own chainsaw.

Can we sight our firearms in at site? Do you allow target shooting?

Yes, well away from the house as there are dogs and horses around. well away stock in paddocks as well.

What do we need to bring?

Just bring yourselves, your supplies, a sense of adventure and a friendly, respectful attitude.

Do you charge any extra fees (trophy, bond, etc.)?

No.

Any additional rules I should follow when visiting your property?

Be respectful of staff and farm animals. Keep a clean house and camp.

What do visitors most like about your property?

Kids love the Maranoa river - worlds biggest sand pit. Permanent water on Merivale is always worth exploring

What do hunters most like about your property?

It has enough size, variation and water to always provide game to hunt.

What is some of the history of the area you could share?

Well within the stomping ground of the infamous Kenniff Brothers

When wives and children come along, what activities can they do?

Maranoa and Merivale Rivers as well as some bush walking provide good entertainment.

Do you have any pet horses, goats, ducks, geese, birds etc that you show guest’s or they can feed?

Horses are work animals and arent to be fed. please feed the guinea fowl.

What are your pet hates that you would like to share so that hunters don’t do that?

No shooting around the house or driveway. No gutting of animals anywhere near the houses.

Do you like to have a chat to guest’s or do you just like to keep to yourself?

We mostly keep to ourselves but please say hi if you see us around.

Property Owners Rules

Rules are common sense, gates are to be left as they are found, no shooting at or near grazing livestock, hunt respectfully, leave the accommodation as it was found, make sure to take any rubbish with you or use the bins provided. Obey any fire restrictions that are currently in place. No shooting near the house.

Additional Supplies

The town of Mitchell is the best local place to restock and resupply, which is located 90Kms away. Mitchell contains a fuel station, supplying gas, petrol and diesel from 6.30 - 8pm. There is also a General Store open 7am - 7pm.
Mitchell is a small country town but nearly everything. Roma is bigger if mitchell doesnt have it.
Mitchell has all your basic shops and supplies including food, fuel, ammunition (Samios), alcohol and anything else you may need

PROPERTY ACCESS

For access to any of our properties, all Shooters, Non-shooters and Bow Hunters require current membership of one of the following:

• SSAA
• Shooters Union
• An Approved Hunting Organisation (AHO)

All Doggers on dogging approved properties need to be a member of the APDHA

For each non-hunter attending any of our properties, it is compulsory to be covered by current comprehensive public liability insurance. This is a non-negotiable requirement and forms part of your booking contract. Similar to having travel insurance to go on holidays. This insurance is available by being a current member of an AHO, the SSAA or the Shooters Union before your booking is approved.

We also recommend current ambulance cover.

You enter these properties fully aware of the risks involved and do so at your own risk.
